What is the difference between a belt-drive installation and a direct-drive installation?

In case of a belt-drive installation, the compressor is placed in a sound-insulating casing and driven by a power band or V-belts using an automatic tension unit and a bearing set. In case of a direct-drive installation, the compressor is placed in the chassis and is directly connected to the flange of the PTO using a PTO shaft.
